DK returns with ‘Cymatic Frequencies II’ and as before it’s another AV mix. This is Part 1 of ‘Best of 2011′, taking personal favourites from his mixes this year and adding suitable and sometimes breathtaking visuals to compliment the audio. This Video Mixtape includes a few of the artists Original video’s but in most cases visuals have been sourced from animation, CGI, Short Films, archive footage and edited to each track in the mix. Some of the 2011 musical highlights include Africa Hitech, Machinedrum, Peverelist, Skream, Pearson Sound, Thundercat, Michael Kiwanuka and the Stepkids, plus there’s a few dips into the archive with Wayne Smith, Tribe of Issachar, Herbie Hancock, Burial and Vangelis.

We continue with the second part of Cymatic Frequencies II by DK, the Video Mixtape reviewing some of his favourite mixes from this year with added visuals. Using more Original Videos from the artist this time and the quality of the music is equally as good as Part 1.
It’s a sombre start with Gil Scott-Heron RIP, followed by James Blake and hip hop from Paul White, Danny Brown and Shabazz Palaces. Ninja Tune feature with Mr Scruff, Toddla T, Raffertie and Fink, with Big Dada represented by Wiley & Offshore. There’s 2 from Martyn on Brainfeeder, Zed Bias features 3 times and it’s big club tracks from Joe Goddard, Julio Bashmore and Fourtet. Plus there’s a few classics from Liquid Liquid, Radiohead and Har You Percussion group to close a visual feast.
This is just part of a set that is played out live using Serato Video-SL plug in for Scratch Live.

Solid Steel in association with Serato (21st January) This week on Solid Steel, DK gives you a treat for eyes as well as your ears with a full on Visual mix ‘Cymatic Frequencies’ alongside the Audio. Packed full of musical highlights from 2010, Ninja Tune & Big Dada XX celebrations and of course the odd classic thrown in for good measure, all with added visuals (mostly created for each track) and it can be viewed here http://www.vimeo.com/19005861
We start where we ended the last AV mix with the anthemic ‘Hyph Mngo’ by Joy Orbison and a few choice words from Sun Ra. We continue in a future vain with the Eliphino Remix for Kidkanevil, Maddslinky given a Toddla T lick, and the heavy ‘Work them’ by Ramadanman. 
It’s a Ninja Trio and a Big Dada double, while James Blake floats over the Altrice remix of Caribou, before we turn up the bass to 11 for Bassnectar. The beats stay heavy as we skip through the Jamie XX remix for Gil Scott-Heron, an ‘old skool’ trio mixed with RackNRuin and Vent for extra dance floor punch, and it’s a D n B finish with the DJ Marky remix of ‘Wile Out’ by Zinc, Sunny by James Brown tweaked by Featurecast and we end on the sublime Flying Lotus remix for Andreya Triana. We take it down for hour 2 with a mix from Point to C. It’s a down-tempo neck snapper mixed flawlessly, taking in cuts from Afrika HiTech, Quest and Quadron, plus another track from Gil Scott-Heron with the beautiful ‘Me And The Devil’.
Chris Read pops up for the last part with a look back to 1989 and a celebration of classic rap tracks from a golden era. This is just part of a regular night he does taking a certain year in Rap’s history and deftly mixing together the likes of Big Daddy Kane, EPMD, Main Source and Ultramagnetic MCs

Solid Steel in association with Serato (26th February) This week, our guest is the man Banglash with his ‘Subliminal Massage’ mix. Hailing from the mean streets of Oxford, his mix has plenty of familiar names that have been chopped, looped and arranged to form a smooth passage through those boom-bap sounds and tracks that they’ve sampled. Expect Tribe, Amp Fiddler, Slum Village and J Rocc alongside classics from Donald Byrd, Eddie Kendricks and the truly sublime ‘Wooden Ships’ by Chris Harwood.
Hour 2 kicks of with chief superintendent of the Dub Police, Caspa. You know what you’re going to get, heavy heavy basslines from the dubstep commander. His mix features Emalkay, Subscape, Benga and tracks from the man himself all locked up together in a huge bassbin.
DK ends the show with a look into the future of Ninja Tune in 2010. Tracks from new artists Emika, Andreya Triana and Grasscut debut alongside veterans Funki Porcini, DJ Food and Bonobo’s latest offerings, while stable mates Big Dada have Jammer and Juice Aleem showcasing their upcoming singles. Look out for friends of the family Warrior One, Flying Lotus and Nathan Fake on remix duties.

This week (18th July) DJ Moneyshot is ready to bang in your face baby!! Music on the platters from The Aston Shuffle, Sam Moultrie, Crookers, Black Grass and more gems to get the weekend well and truly up and running! Revival time! PC from DJ Food with another vintage slice of Solid Steel from 1997. The sets incorporate his trademark Boss delay pedal, spoken word, Jazz, Music Concréte, Drum n Bass and heavy beats, all sewn together so seamlessly that it’s impossible to spot the joins. His mastery of the art of DJing never ceases to amaze, as his style is extremely musical but instinctive too, always riding the rhythm and aware of the space around or within a track. Tracks from Charles Earland, Squarepusher and Alvin Lucier to name but a few. Pure Class!

Cue the atmospheric wild west music in the background as Solid Steel makes it’s last stand! The BBC in their unrelentingly infinite wisdom (note: sarcasm) never really know a good thing when they’ve got it (don’t get us started on the Radiophonic Workshop), and the eradication of Solid Steel from the BBC airwaves is a prime example of this sort of lunacy.
